UPDATE 1/11/25

We are truely grateful for all the donations received. Unfortunately Greg's Hodgkins Lymphoma wasn’t fully eradicated and he started chemotherapy again on 1/2/25.

He will also need a stem cell transplant with more intensive chemotherapy before the procedure that requires a 3 week hospitalization.

He will be out of work for at least six months. This new fundraiser will be to help pay his expenses, transportation and medical bills while he goes through treatment.

For those that can not help financially, we are also working on creating a transportation/food train schedule if you can help in that way!

Hi my name is Nicole Testa-Mara and I am trying to raise funds for my brother Greg to help him pay for his medical expenses. July 2023 he was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Stage 3. He has started a very aggressive chemotherapy that he gets every two weeks for 12 treatments. Currently he is on short term disability and the earliest he can go back to work is in March. These funds would help ease the stress of rent, medical co pays, and medicine each week. Greg is a private person but with the encouragement of his Family and Friends he wanted to share this information with others. He is very grateful for all the help he has received already. Please keep him in your prayers.

Greg Testa- Medical Expenses

I'm helping my friend Lila Vilasini raise funds to help Sridhara Mali and family recover their losses from the recent flooding of Vrindavan. Please read the following from Lila Vilasini:

Dear Devotees,

When my dhama guru (holy place guide) first engaged me in taking pilgrims around Vrindavan, he shared with me important advice, almost in the form of a mantra:

“The first experience one has in the holy place is the eyes by which they see everything else.”

He was concerned that if the increasing urbanization of Vrindavan was the first experience foreign pilgrims may have, their pilgrimage may be ruined. He therefore took me only a fifteen-minute walk from ISKCON Vrindavan to the secluded and unknown gardens of Vrindavan where most of the flowers for its 5,000 temples are grown. There he introduced me to Sridhara Mali (gardener) and family and instructed me to try to take the pilgrims to his home first. The family fed me the most wonderful and unforgettable Brijabasi rotis, and since then hundreds, maybe thousands, of foreign pilgrims have enjoyed their first experience in the dhama with this gracious family. The family, with the donations they received, even built and straw pavilion to shade its guests. I sometimes marvel that their few hundred-dollar pavilion in the rustic setting of Vrindavan, only fifteen minutes from the bustle of Vrindavan town, has done more to spread the glories of Vrindavan than so many million-dollar temples that have been built. I visited the family a few days ago now that the flood waters have receded. Their rose gardens have been destroyed, and it will take a minimum of a year to grow back. The family is now living on their savings as they will have no income for a while. I want to raise $5,000 to help them through the year and repair their simple dwelling that has been destroyed. It’s the least we can do for a wonderful family (mother, father, three sons, their wives, and grandchildren) that have selflessly served the international Vaisnavas for years. Especially if you have had their rotis, and many of you have, and due to their mercy, you carry a part of the real Vrindavan in your heart, please help reciprocate with Sridhara Mali and family in their time of need.

Your servant,

GORA গোରା Gaudiya Odiya Research Association

Funds go to GORA, a branch of BRC, Bhaktivedanta Research Center, dedicated to HDG A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada’s desire to create a library to preserve rare important Gaudiya books.

GORA is Madhavananda Das’ offering to Srila Prabhupada and Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja who was a lover of rare Gaudiya Odiya literature and wanted to begin a Vaishnava university in Odisha. This project is also due to the inspiration and blessings from the learned professor and devotee Sripad Fakir Mohan Das who wanted to open a research center in Odisha to preserve rare Odiya literature and requested Madhavananda to assist him. Fakir Mohan Prabhu dedicated his life to searching out, preserving, and publishing these rare books. It is our hope that this endeavor will please these personalities. We pray for their blessings and the blessings of all the dear devotees of Jagannath, Gopinath, and Gaudiya-Odiyanath Gauranga Mahaprabhu.

This project is intended to be a resource for scholars, devotees, and researchers and our slogan is: Preserve, Publish, Practice.

We have at this time an extensive library consisting of nearly 4,000 books. This includes a number of rare books as well as hundreds of volumes in English, Odiya, Sanskrit, and Bengali on Odisha, Puri, and Jagannath. We are also constantly expanding and adding new titles and look forward to greatly increasing the number of books in our collection.

We have some rare books that are on a short-term loan. We are looking to immediately scan and digitize these books before the loan ends. To this end, we are trying to raise funds to purchase a few much-needed items.

· A professional quality scanner for digitizing and preserving old rare books that we have on loan with us (these scanners typically cost upwards of $5,000)

· Desktop computer and monitor for running the scanner and cataloging books

· AC system for the library to help preserve the books

We know that in these tumultuous and challenging times, there are many pressing causes that need financial support. We humbly ask you to consider supporting the preservation of these rare treasures that will cultivate spiritual education and will yield nurturing fruits for generations.

In addition to the immediate vision of preserving and publishing rare books, we have a long-term vision of creating an ashram in Puri where devotees can come to study a variety of accredited courses e.g., scriptures, Vedic ecology, etc. and be spiritually nourished with the experience of the Holy Dhama while associating with like-minded devotees. If you’d like to learn more about the larger vision of GORA, contact Madhavananda Das .

Visit our Facebook Page
Send us a message on Facebook
Email GORA

About Madhavananda Das:

Madhavananda Das joined the ashram in ISKCON Los Angeles in 1982. He moved to Bhubaneswar, Odisha in 1993 and has been living in Odisha since. He was instructed by his spiritual master, Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja to edit his lectures into publications. For over twenty years he has been serving as the director of Gopal Jiu Publications , the editor of Sri Krishna Kathamrita Magazine, and the fortnightly digital magazine Sri Krishna Kathamrita Bindu. He resides in Jagannath Puri Dhama with his wife Krishna Kunda Dasi, and relishes the opportunity to take devotees on parikrama and educate them about the treasures of Odisha and Mahaprabhu’s pastimes there. In non-COVID times, he and his wife travel extensively throughout the world, sharing Krishna katha.

Madhavananda’s Facebook Page

Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. That encounter so profoundly impacted Varsana Swami, that he was inspired to join the Brooklyn temple. Shortly thereafter, he relocated to New Vrindaban and began what is now nearly five decades of devotional service there. Varsana Swami has performed a variety of seva over the years including raising and training draft animals for farming; pujari service; conservation work; and heading up the excavation department responsible for literally carving out the infrastructure of New Vrindaban.

Imbibing the instructions of his Guru, Srila Prabhupada, Varsana Swami has been envisioning and sculpting landscapes throughout New Vrindaban since the early ’70s. His heart is vested in seeing and revealing the glory and beauty of the Dhama to fulfill his spiritual master’s desire; as expressed in Srila Prabhupada’s letter dated 18th February 1970.

“try your best to construct New Vrindaban as an exact duplicate of Vrindaban and that will give me the highest pleasure.”

For the last few years, Varsana Swami has been battling Chronic Lyme Syndrome and most recently has developed a severe acute episode which has further complicated his progress in healing. The neurological conditions suggest Lyme disease is the cause. This newest occurrence has exacerbated Varsana Swami’s debilitation to the point of also aggravating other pre-existing health conditions.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by the bite of an infected deer tick. It is a type of parasite that travels through the body randomly attacking various organs, systems and affecting bodily functions. In this case, the current health challenges and symptoms which Varsana Swami is struggling to manage are:

● Chronic Fatigue to the extent of light-headedness and fainting

● Joint pain stiffness; aggravated arthritis

● Neurological dysfunction

● Cognitive impairment

● Sleep deprivation due to night time pain and exasperated allergic reactions

● Gastrointestinal disorders

A group of committed followers have come together as his medical team and have secured an effective protocol. Varsana Swami has started to receive the treatment and care he desperately requires to improve his condition and to continue his services to Srila Prabhupada and New Vrindaban Dhama.

We do, however, require some funds to cover his health costs as they are mainly alternative and not covered by any insurance plan. Supporting Varsana Swami in returning to a stable health condition will allow him to expertly assist in finishing his offering of seva to the Dhama for the pleasure of Srila Prabhupada, Sri Sri Radha Gopinath, Their devotees, and visitors.

We humbly request your kind assistance in funding and backing this health care program. Thanking you in advance for your contributions and support to restore Varsana Swami’s health.

With much care and gratitude,

Disciples and well-wishers of Varsana Swami

Sandhya R. Michelic Castro is a loving mother of three recently diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis (swelling in a section of the spinal cord). While on a family trip to Virginia Beach for the weekend, Michelic woke up to find that she was completely paralyzed and could not move any of her limbs despite previously not exhibiting any symptoms. The ambulance was called to transport Michelic to the hospital which was only the beginning of her expenses. Upon arrival to the hospital, Michelic was no longer able to speak or breathe on her own forcing the doctors to intubate. It took over 48 hours for doctors to finally diagnose her. The rest of her family was forced to return home with the exception of her husband, Mario Guerrero, who has remained at her bedside in Virginia not being able to work or make it home to their three children in New York. The couple is now stuck in Virginia currently running out of their survival funds, with nowhere for her husband to stay and still having to provide for their children back home. This hardworking and devoted family is struggling to make ends meet while having their mother in the hospital with no health insurance to fall back on for treatment including rehabilitation services that will be needed further down the line. We ask that you find it in your hearts to help her family with any donation possible. Please hold Michelic in your hearts and prayers. Her children fear growing up without their mother. She needs all the help she can get. Every little bit helps.

Mother of Three Fighting for her Life

An Appeal To Help Ramdas Abhirama Das Who Is In Critical Condition

Dear Devotees worldwide,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

We are again making an appeal for financial support, this time for a very dear and loved devotee who has made significant contributions to the cultural expansion of our Krishna consciousness in the world. Ramdas Abhirama Das, a disciple of Srila Prabhupada, suffered a serious cerebral intraparenchymal hemorrhage while visiting Italy with his wife Dhrti Dasi last week. Cerebral intraparenchymal hemorrhage is when a blood vessel bursts in the brain depriving the brain of oxygen and proper blood supply. It can result in death or impaired mobility throughout life.

When the hemorrhage happened Ramdas fell unconscious and was immediately airlifted by helicopter to a good hospital in Livorno, Italy. He has been in an induced coma in ICU since that time and more than likely he will remain in ICU for several weeks. Because the hemorrhage is deep within his brain doctors cannot operate. They can only monitor the situation.

Ramdas and Dhrti have Medicare in the USA, but unfortunately, it does not cover medical expenses in other countries. Additionally they have no travel insurance.

We have consulted with the doctors about the cost of his care while in the hospital and they gave a rough estimate of £50,000. I say rough estimate because at this stage no one really knows what will happen to Ramdas. We can only pray and wait. If Ramdas survives the doctors say he will require months of successive treatment to learn how to use his bodily functions again. In their opinion that could easily amount to another £30,000. Needless to say, Dhrti will also need some financial support throughout this ordeal as well. She is presently staying with an Italian family who kindly offered a room in their modest house at least for the time being.

Ramdas and Dhrti are legends in ISKCON art, having painted in the BBT art trust from 1975 to 1986, with the original core of BBT artists including Jadurani Dasi, Pariksit Das and Murlidhar Das. They received personal instructions on painting from Srila Prabhupada and their paintings are included in the Srimad Bhagavatam, Bhagavad Gita, Nectar of Devotion, Caitanya Caritamrta and Krsna Book.

Please donate generously to helping Ramdas and Dhrti in this very difficult and challenging moment in their lives. Srila Prabhupada once described the paintings done by them and other ISKCON artists as, ‘windows to the spiritual world.”

Your Servant,
Indradyumna Swami

An Appeal to Help Ramdas Abhirama Das

The goal of the Ashley Nicole Conte Foundation is to provide help for those that are struggling with mental illness. Our beautiful daughter, Ashley Nicole, 23, was quietly taken from this world to mental illness on May 2, 2019. Although Ashley received a lot of love, support and help from her family and friends, she kept a lot of it concealed and hidden. Ashley suffered silently and hid a lot of her pain from her family and friends.

We as her family have made it our life mission to raise awareness on mental illness. If you are reading this and are suffering with mental illness and think that you may have a handle on it, please ask for help and do not go it alone. Do it for Ashley and do it for yourself. Ashley thought that she could handle it. Ashley is now in heaven with the angels. Please ask for help, please, please come to us or tell a loved one, friend or teacher. We promise you that they will come running to help you and do anything for you. You are worth it and you are special. Mental illness is very common but not talked about enough. We want you to know that you are not alone. You have so many people in your life that love and adore you.

We know that our Ashley will not be here physically, but that through her Foundation, Ashley will work miracles from Heaven. As her family, we couldn’t be more proud of our girl. Ashley will help save the lives of others with mental illness through this foundation.

Ashley was a graduate of Our Lady Of Hope School and The Mary Lewis Academy.
Ashley enjoyed snowboarding, soccer, basketball and softball. Ashley loved to shop, loved helping people, adored children, loved the beach and taking in the sun, loved to change her hair color and get her nails done. She loved her family and her friends who also considered to be her family. Ashley's friends meant everything to her and she loved them so dearly.

We as her family are broken and hurting. We are saddened to the core by her loss. Ashley leaves behind her mom and dad, Joe and Kathy and her brothers, Joey, Danny and Brendan. We will all miss her terribly and will have an empty hole in our hearts that will never be replaced. Through her foundation, we will keep her memory alive.

Our hope is that we can help individuals with mental illness before it's too late. We want to help you find the support that you need and deserve. For the family members who may feel overwhelmed, scared, confused and unsure about what to do, we want to be a light of hope to help them as well. Thank you in advance for donating to this Foundation that will save lives.

Our beloved sister-in-law, Karen Kosak, left this world suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, November 14th a mere two months after celebrating her 50th Birthday. She leaves behind her loving and hard working husband, John Kosak. Their only child, John, is 14 years old. John and Karen were so proud of John beginning his high school years just this past September at St. John the Baptist in West Islip. Karen loved life and had a smile and infectious laugh that all who loved her will keep with them always. The heartfelt donations collected here will go toward the unexpected expenses incurred with this devasting loss. Please consider donating to help the ones she loved the most - John and John.

With sincere gratitude,
Cathleen and Marc Kosak

His Holiness Gunagrahi Goswami has aggressive prostate cancer

His Holiness Gunagrahi das Goswami joined ISKCON in 1969 and was initiated by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada in 1971. He accepted the renounced order of Sannyasa in 1983. For almost a half century, Maharaja has taught Krishna Consciousness and traveled tirelessly in the service of Srila Prabhupada. He has made hundreds of devotees and initiated many cutting-edge outreach activities.
His Holiness Gunagrahi Goswami has been diagnosed with cancer and has a 5x5x4cm tumor in his prostate. A recent PET scan revealed that the cancer has spread to his lungs and inside the lymph nodes of the pelvis, which means this is stage-4 cancer. Urgent funds are needed to treat this extremely serious, life-threatening condition. On a personal level, I am forever indebted to the Maharaja for his guidance, through thick and thin, in my own life. If you are able, I am extremely grateful for any assistance you can provide to the maharaja.
His Grace Gunagrahi Goswami is currently in Texas, but will be receiving treatment at a renowned holistic clinic in Bangalore, India. He must depart to India immediately. The clinic has a very high success rate treating prostate and many other forms of cancer, even in advanced, aggressive stages such as his. Maharaja will receive daily treatments from the clinic for up to 6 months and will require a lengthy convalescent period after leaving India.
His Holiness Gunagrahi Goswami will be traveling to Bangalore with one servant. Due to Maharaja's extreme condition, he must travel first class with seats that completely recline, and the ticket will have to be purchased last minute, therefore his round trip ticket cost is formidable.
Funds are urgently needed to cover travel expenses for the maharaja and his servant. The costs of 6 months rent and daily transportation to and from the clinic will be needed. A refrigrator and juicer, a chair and table, a suitable bed for his condition, food, and propane for cooking are also necessary. Daily taxi transportation to and from the clinic, herbs, medicines, a water purifier, and treatments for 6 months all add up, then there will be extensive aftercare in the United States. $27,500 is needed to cover these expenses.
This $27500 goal is a preliminary estimate for the cost of taking GGS to India, treatment for six months, medicines, living expenses and other incidentals. However, since we actually don't know how much his treatment, and extensive convalescent period will end up costing right for this stage 4 cancer, I assure you, we will use the funds collected solely for his well being and treatment, even if we raise more than the preliminary goal.
Again, I can't stress enough, the urgency of the maharaja's condition. Please, if you so desire, donate whatever you can for the medical care of this wonderful pioneer of ISKCON who has served Srila Prabhupada tirelessly for many, many decades and has nourished and transformed numerous lives all over the globe. Maharaja and the countless personalities whom he has provided spiritual support to are deeply grateful for anything you can do to help this beloved and dedicated Vaisnava.
