Sally Pollard 's Thank You Fund
Sally was a truly wonderful and loving person; a great woman, mother, daughter, sister, friend, teacher, scientist, colleague, wife - and of course the perfect Maid Marian.
Whilst I, her family and friends are all devastated at her loss we are incredibly comforted by the overwhelming love, support and friendship we have been recieving, knowing how much Sal was loved and what a great and positive difference she made in the lives of so many people really helps.
We're also hugely grateful to the brilliant and caring organisations who helped Sal in her last months with care, equipment and treatment and so rather than have flowers at her funeral we are asking people to contribute to a fund to give something back to them.
Any funds raised will be donated in Sally's name to:
Macmillan Cancer Support, the Red Cross, Nottingham City Hospital's Hayward House Specialist Palliative Care Unit, Nottingham and Treetops Hospices and Maggie's Nottingham.
I will love and miss Sal forever, as will we all - and thank you all again for your love, friendship and support, it really is very much appreciated.
**Please remember to add GIFT AID if you can, it means more funds for the charities at no extra cost to the giver**
So having been prompted to raise it again I will do, partly because I know how much each charity both needs and deserves as much support as possible but also because I know there are some very generous people out there (as those who have donated already prove) and there are also some cheques to add onto the total too.
So thank you again, I don't know if we'll reach the new total of £500 per charity, double the initial £1500 - but I do know each and every one of you is a legend, just like Sal.
Thank you enormously from me, the charities and (I'm absolutely sure) Sal. Thank you.
I'd chosen £1500 almost randomly because it averaged out at £250 for each organisation, to be honest anything would have been good but we've been inspired, amazed and genuinely comforted by everyone's kindness, and I know Sal would have been too.
So I've increased the target to £1800 (£300 per charity) because not only does it look achievable (and we have some cheques and cash to add in too) but if we make it that would be truly awesome - as awesome as every single one of you who've already contributed, making an incredibly important difference to a vast number of people you'll never know.
But from our own experience and from the bottom of my heart I can tell you it does make a difference, a huge difference. So thank you, a thousand times.
You're all heroes.
