Play for Patrick youth heart screenings are free to kids 14-18 years old and include:

The foundation is also bringing awareness about SCA, and to help make Heart screens more accessible and affordable.

My wife Joanne and I have been blessed with many grandchildren. Due to the Play for Patrick heart scans done for the Rosemount High School, Our Granddaughter Kyli 16 was diagnosed with a hole in her heart. It was hard to believe that all through her growing up and seeing doctors that this went undetected. The hole that was found was large and if not found and repaired would have caused her major heart problems as she grew in age. Kyli is now back in School after having Heart surgery down at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Kyli who has been on the Rosemount Dance team thru both Middle School and Now High School never knew she had a problem but now knows how much better she feels and may never have known if not for this program and the scans done. To other parents out there, Please remember that your children may never know they have a problem while growing up with all the other thing kids have to deal with. Please take time to make sure your children and your Schools get on the list to have these scans done. We have enough to worry about with kids and their safety that having the piece of mind knowing they are growing up with a strong heart is priceless. Thanks, Mike and Joanne Matteson

I would love for that cause to be a Play For Patrick 96 Mid-Am Tournament. With all proceeds (outside the expenses) and contributions going to your cause. I wanted to get your thoughts on the idea before I went to the coach and administrators with the idea. Please email me if it is something you would be interested in exploring. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org. And let me close by saying how deeply sorry I am for you and your families loss. I can't even imagine what you're going through. And to take that tragedy and do something positive is so very admirable. I would love to help that cause! Sincerely, Leanne Penney
Jeff, I came across Patrick's story just today while scrolling through Facebook. I am a hockey parent of a soon to be 14 year old who is a goalie playing for the newly organized Tri-State Spartans. We are just outside of Dayton, Ohio, but our teams players are from a little bit of everywhere in the mid-am region. We just finished our season up, which is probably why I am finally finding the time to just sit and lounge a bit this weekend. I can not tell you how much your story touched me, and frankly, scared the hell out of me! I have seen other reports of this same kind of tragedy happening to other athletes, but I guess because your story resonates within the hockey community, it hits a little closer to home. The hockey community is such a tight-knit family, I feel drawn to want to help your cause in some way. I am the team manager for the bantam minor team and our coach is the director of hockey operations for our organization. I am hoping after having a very successful inaugural season, that we can host a tournament in our area during the next 2015-2016 season. We have made a lot of friends and connections throughout the season (and years) and think we could host a very successful tournament, especially with such a meaningful cause attached.
I'm so sorry to hear about Patrick. There are many of us around who are willing to help. We have traveled a similar road. Check out screenacrossamerica.org and parentheartwatch.org. Please let me know if we can be of assistance.
I am still in awe of all the support, love, and compassion that has been shown by so many people. I am very proud of my brother, Gayle, Abby, Anna, Matthew, and of course, Patrick! His legacy will live for a very long time. #playforpatrick
