Medical Bills for Deputy Cassie Defoor
The Sheriff's Auxiliary Unit of the Pickens County Georgia Sheriff's Office is a 501c3 non profit. We are starting this GoFund Me campaign on behalf of our Deputy Cassie Defoor, a young single Mom and outstanding Law Enforcement Officer. Cassie is in a fight for her life, arising from complications that arose during a relatively routine surgical procedure Thursday, February 21. During the procedure a tear occurred in her Aorta, causing her to bleed out in the O/R. She was transfused, given CPR, and revived. In total she has received 40 units of blood, and has been on ByPass and Ventilator since. Cassie is in a medically induced coma. As Cassie fights for her life her medical bills are rapidly rising. Would you please consider making a donation to her, and would you also keep Cassie, her young son, and her family in your prayers. Because of Cassie's medical condition she cannot act as her own beneficiary. Her mother, and guardian, Brenda Negrete has been appointed as the beneficiary for this campaign.+ Read More
No word on Cassie today, but last night closed with great news from our girl. Yesterday Cassie said "Mom" for the first time since her surgery! YAY Cassie!! And yes, you know that brought very, very happy tears to Mom. Prayers are working. God is still at work. Thank you for continuing to help Cassie fight.
Hasn't been an update for a few days. The last one pictured Cassie on her feet and responding to requests. This weekend she was transferred back to ICU so they could more closely some fluctuations in her heart's rhythm. Hopefully they can make a determination as to the cause of these fluctuations. Thank you so very much for your continued donations and prayers.
What a mighty, mighty God we serve! Just about 3 weeks ago we didn't know if Cassie would make it, and today she is on her feet and even following instructions. At one point she answered a question with "I'm fine". Yes, we know there is still a long road ahead, but with God leading the way our fighter will know victory. Thank each one of you for your continued prayers and donations. Both are vitally important. Invite others to join with us as we celebrate the battles that will be won going forward. God bless you.
Cassie is going through a lot of tests as Shepherd builds a profile so they develop the proper program for her rehab. She has been having a lot of problems clearing her own throat, hence the trach, so they are checking to see if she has any blockages in her airway. They want to take the trach out if at all possible. They also found a blood clot today in the left main artery in her neck. Let's be praying that doesn't create any additional problems. Thank you for your continuing prayers and donations, and your many kind words of encouragement.
