Help LSU Graduating Senior

Hey everyone,
I'm Wes. I am currently a graduating senior at the LSU School of Architecture. I work hard and as much as I can while in school. I cannot wait to graduate and find a job on my career path. However, my family and I are in a bit of a bind.
My car has been giving me some problems and after a month of hassle I have finally figured out what the problem is. Unfortunately, its not a cheap problem to fix. Turns out much of the internals of my transmission are in need of repair. I've been given two estimates, one to replace the transmission and one to rebuild the one I have. It would cost nearly $5500 to replace and $4000 to rebuild. I dont have the funds to even think about replacing the transmission, nor do I think it is cost effective considering the age of the car.
The problem is, while in school, I do not have the funds available to repair my car. My parents have graciously offered to help me in the cost, but do not have the substantial amount needed. Ive worked very hard, sometimes 40 hours a week while in a competitive major at LSU, to buy this car on my own and I have had it for over a year now. I love my car very much and I cant wait to hopefully have it running again.
In addition I am currently, and have been, borrowing my mom's car to get to and from school. I am very thankful for her help, but it has been putting her in a bind I am sure. She has been without a car during the day for over a month. The sooner I can gather the funds the better so my mom can have her freedom back.
It would mean so much to me to receive any and all help to have my car fixed before I graduate and go off on my career path. During the summer I plan to work full time and extra hard to repay my parents for the help they have given me so far and in the repair. I would greatly appreciate any further help from my friends and family as well and will help you in return in any way I can.
