Now that I am graduating high school, I want to help people realize the importance of music in our individual lives and for the world as a whole. As a performer and educator, I want to inspire people to keep music alive in schools.
I have been dedicated to music for almost 8 years now, practicing hard every day and being part of many ensembles. I have been accepted into the Washington All-State Concert Band twice, been to State Solo/Ensemble contest for my solo performance, and was principal chair of the Pacific Northwest Honor Band this year. For three years I've been in my school's top band, Symphonic Winds, and have been section leader for the past two. I have also been in my school's pep band, jazz band, and pit orchestra for the past three years. Outside of school, I've also been involved with multiple other bands. I've volunteered for the Puyallup Valley Community Band, Pierce College Concert Band, and Pierce County Big Band, and substitute whenever needed for the Willpower Jazz Band. Whenever I find the time, I teach younger musicians, from when they're just starting to play an instrument to private lessons.
However, in order to accomplish my goals, I want to receive the best training possible. I am attending Indiana Univeristy this Fall to study Trombone Performance, and hopefully after that go to graduate school for Musicology. And as I'm sure you know, higher education and the costs that come with it are growing at an extremely fast rate. This is where I need your help. My immediate family - as much as they would like to help - cannot afford to fully finance my endeavors. With your much-appreciated donation, I would be able to afford the following:
- Attending a school that will help me become a better musician and teacher
- Housing and other fees for said school
- A new trombone
- Gas/flights back home to visit family and friends
