Helps fund a cure for Parkinson's

Donation protected
Our website will generate ad revenue that will be donated to Parkinson's Disease organizations.  Your financial support helps us to maintain and finish building and refining the site.  Here's how,

It's estimated that as many as 1 million Americans from throughout the United States, including my inspiring and beautiful wife Sally, brave through Parkinson's Disease every day.

We thought this Comparison Tool idea could help raise money towards finding a cure, so Sally and I took money out of our savings and retirement and worked with a Silicon Valley company to build this website.

Because of what the site does, it's called "ComparisonTool.org" and it enables users to compare the relative size of different things.  A lion compared to a giraffe, a dinosaur compared to a blue whale, a waterfall compared to the height of a building, a certain athlete or actress compared to a certain family member, etc.

Comparison Tool also gives parents and teachers of all kinds a nifty little tool that helps make things like current events such as, "inaugural crowds" or "Puerto Rico" a little more meaningful to our students and children.  Those kinds of events can be put into perspective by comparing the size of those events to the size of things or locations that students are familiar with like classrooms, schools, stadiums, school busses, towns, etc.

We developed this website so that we could raise money in support of finding a cure for Parkinson's Disease through advertising.

I don't know what kind of advertising model the site will end up using, but by using a common type of advertising called CPM, the potential for Comparison Tool's ability to generate ad revenue can be explored a little bit.

CPM stands for "Cost Per Thousand".  For every 1000 views of an ad, a merchant will pay a certain amount of money, $1, $5, $25 based on factors like "who" is visiting the site and whether or not those visitors click on the ads, or buy something, etc.  CPM.

If one of our merchants for example, pays $1 for every 1000 visitors to the site and then at least 1000 people end up visiting the site every day for the year, that merchant would pay $1 a day or $365 for the year.

However, if 1 million people visit the Comparison Tool site every day for a year, then Comparison Tool would generate $365,000 in ad revenue for the year.

Comparison Tool gives everyone in the Parkinson's community (4-5 million people), and virtually every other kind of community, all over the world, the opportunity to help find a cure at any time of the day, as often as they want.

In that way, it's a little bit like that notion of how each raindrop adds to the storm; and in that sense, it's hoped that the Comparison Tool ends up bringing a little bit more rain to a thirsty Parkinson's Disease fundraising landscape.

Merchants are an essential part of that "storm" and so it's hoped also that visitors show appreciation for our Merchants' who support of our cause by clicking ads, visiting websites, dropping by stores or restaurants or shops and buying something that they were already planning to buy.  Just to express gratitude.

Just as Sally and I would like to express our gratitude for your interest in this project; whether it's financial support or simply spreading the word or even using the Tool yourself on a regular basis, IT ALL ADS UP.

The site is almost done and we'll begin raising money from advertising in the coming months.

Your financial support through this Go Fund Me campaign will go towards maintaining and improving Comparison Tool's ability to raise money.

Some of those improvements that we couldn't afford in this first version of the website include, enlarging and enhancing the image library, refining the Tool's functionality, and for financial transparency, adding "counters" that would help keep track of the money coming in and going out, etc.

Our requested amount includes federal & state taxes as well as the GoFundMe fees.  Anything beyond our requested amount would still go towards maintaining the site as well as towards making other potential improvements in how CT generates ad revenue including legal and other developmental costs.

Again, thank you so much for your interest and support.  Rick and Sally
