Help Pay Veterinary Bill for Gambit

After a few days of not eating I took Gambit to the vet. He was very scared and at one point he peed on me. He has a poor appetite, jaundice and maybe a mass. Basically the vet said that it's either liver disease or cancer.
He's at the hospital now, getting fluids and antibiotics. I called last night and the vet said that there might be a tumor. It could also be blockage. I don't know.
When I first adopted Gambit he had been abused as a kitten so it took him years to warm up to me. He also gets along great with the other cats so I consider him a peace maker in many ways. He still hides from me except in the morning and evening when he wants to be fed.
The fact that he wasn't demanding food was the first sign that something was wrong. I don't think it's cancer because he was just running around with Sugar on Friday.
But I'm worried about him. He's not where he feels comfortable. And he's very scared if strangers. He's also very passive, preferring to run. One time I had to put eye drops into his eye and once I cornered him he didn't fight it scratch. He just cried.
The vet bill is $1200 so far. They wanted to charge me $2000 but they took off a few tests. I don't know if he's going to be ok. I'm just worried. I might also have to pay for more tests.
I paid with care credit so he's being helped but that's a huge hit to take right now. I'm a freelance writer and jobs are slow at the moment.
