Molly and Eli Kaye tragically lost their Mother yesterday to breast cancer. She was only 37 years old. She fought bravely but sadly lost the battle to this terrible disease.

Its impossible to imagine the pain these children are going through. There are no family members able to take them in and they were left with very little to provide for their needs.

When Carol and Marc Ackerman heard their story they immediately reached out to help. They offered to take them into their family and love them.  They met the children at the summer camp their own kids go to.  They will become Molly and Eli’s legal guardians.

Carol and Marc live in New City and have three children of their own. They volunteer in the community and always help others in any way they can. Carol is an EMT with the New City Ambulance Corp and Marc is a Volunteer Firefighter. They both have hearts of gold.
They will need to provide food, clothes, school supplies, two new rooms in their home, money for college, and all the other essentials needed for Molly and Eli to adjust to their new life.
Any donation you could give, small or large, would be truly appreciated. Let’s show our support for these beautiful kids who lost everything and will have to start over in our community. 28887078_15229410050_r.jpeg

Eli & Molly joined our family on a walk through the Kennedy Dells Trails today. I happened to be shooting pics and videos when they started talking to their Ima. This made my heart happy. We miss you, Jamie ❤️

Many of you have asked us how we came to know Jamie, Eli and Molly. Our children are third generation campers at Surprise Lake Camp in Cold Spring, New York. This past September 2017, our daughter Amy talked us into spending Rosh Hashanah services up at camp.

When we sat down at services, Amy sat behind us with Molly and Eli. Sitting with them was a woman we didn’t know but who we initially thought was their older sister. After the beautiful service was completed, Jamie introduced herself as Molly and Eli‘s mom. We walked together and spoke about our children, shared a beautiful lunch together at Camp and Jamie told us a bit about her health. We played 9 square together as families with Jamie sitting on the bench watching us have some fun. We got to know Eli a little bit more as we have known Molly for years but our sons hadn’t been bunked together.

We promised to keep in touch and kept that promise. As Jamie‘s plans changed and her health deteriorated, we began speaking more frequently. It was then that Marc and I together decided that we would explore the idea of guardianship of Eli and Molly with Jamie.

Surprise Lake Camp brought us together and our children’s shared history as well as Amy and Bobby’s encouragement to pursue this idea of bringing Molly and Eli into our family made our choice somewhat easier.

We are humbled, thankful and appreciative of all of your kind words of support, wishes for an easy future and the incredible generosity of your donations. These funds will go directly to Molly and Eli‘s future and has already helped them to breathe a bit easier. Thank you again so much. I am going to post some pictures of that Fall day at SLC when Marc and I met Jamie. ❤️

There are few words that we can use to express our appreciation and awe at the outpouring of donations and kind words of support. Molly & Eli are back at school as of today and have been enveloped in warmth and support by their friends, teachers and administrators.

Molly and Eli, along with their weekday hosts, The Ginsberg family, and some school friends, released lanterns Sunday night in memory of Jamie. It was a wonderful way for them to remember their Ima in a special and meaningful way.

Thank you all for your continued sharing of supportive and loving words - we have read each and everyone one of them. And for your donations and sharing of this Go Fund Me. We will set up college 529 plans for Molly and Eli - hopefully with more Facebook shares we can cover as much as possible for them!

More updates to come!
Marc & Carol
