Growth Spurt Funding for Cross & Hammer Publishing

Dickens is dead . . . Help US~!!! Cross & Hammer Publishing is our Baby; a young company, based in San Antonio. Her birth came about out of frustration with a previous publisher. Toddling along, we have produced several books, one of which made it to #17 in Hard Science Fiction on Kindle. Now going through puberty, we are entering a time of life with all new challenges, in a world vastly different from that in which many of us grew up. Those old brick and mortar realities of the past no longer hold sway over our viability, and we no longer have to create a large physical presence to reach the world around us. This campaign in your hands is proof of that. Not long ago, Cross & Hammer was a tiny shop, making available the writings of a single author. Now there are three, and more on the way. As such, we now have cause and courage to expand our marketing base, and we have some great ideas of how to get this done. We figure that each ad campaign should cost about three to four thousand dollars to spread the word. Make no mistake, this is a Campaign to raise Marketing Money to promote books all over the world. We already have seven books to present – four already done and available, three in the mill for the near future, and we do mean near. The challenge we face is moving from a profitable hobby, to become a thriving, productive, world-reaching, cottage company enterprise. Help US~!!!

Our primary goal is to help people like you get published, put your words out there, and create a market for your books. Like 17-year-old David, we stand amid a world of Goliath presses. We don’t have million dollar presses, or the financial backing of the big houses, able to put a hundred grand into a single book, to generate buzz and sales. But, we don’t believe we need those things to be the new face of publishing. Still, we gotta spend something, and that is where you come in, on this, our Growth Spurt Funding. It is our Gothic Romance, and we want you to join us with a bit of the struggle, and share a bit in the victory. We do have authors and more coming. We hope to be the future of what publishing could be. We want anyone who has written a book, poetry, or even a graphic novel, to have his or her stories shared with the world! And you can help make their dreams come true. Here’s a peek.

Bill Grace, has self-published two saddle-stitched books of poetry “The Halcyon Poems” (1976) and “Snippets of His Glory” (1996). His second book, ‘Snippets,’ has been available for years, but only if he handed you a copy of it, from his inkjet printer. We took ‘Snippets’ digital, on Kindle and Nook, because Bill, a poet with 1200+ poems in his portfolio, is assembling a book of a hundred plus poems. “Beauty's Thistle,” soon published by Cross & Hammer, is Bill’s, “first authorized book of poetry where [my] innate creativity and spirituality is enhanced by the power of editorial collaboration and support.” To hear him tell it, “When dinosaurs walked the earth, [my first] print publication was in ‘The Friends Journal.’” We are helping to make real things happen.

Catelyn Critchfield-Wilson is a new voice on the horizon, with an excellent vocabulary and poignant turn of phrase, telling stories from an elder culture, or just from a less jaded heart, for ordinary people to relate to, enjoying the means of the telling. As with every young talent, she has been concerned that her words, and the worlds they portray, will not be taken seriously and enjoyed for what they are – which is simply beautiful. Catelyn has a great future as a writer, partly because of her skills in sharing a story, but also due to the precise reality that she does not deliver what the world requires, instead providing what the story and reader need and appreciate.

Keith T Jenkins is our senior novelist, having navigated the waters of publishing a few times, helping others to get theirs done. With four books out, two in the mill, and one in editorial review now, even with twisted characters, he has fully discovered his process. He has also advised others on their talent, skills, and style, in an effort to help them find their voices, and present them in a quality way. You may also find him, from time to time, sitting in a coffee house, sharing ideas with younger authors, assisting them in how to build a story and package a book, getting it ready for production. Writing is his passion; helping is his calling.

If you want to toss a couple hundred grand at us, some of us will sponsor a benevolent hostile takeover of the place, and get you a right comfy chair. We can then become one of the greatest publishers ever. But anything short of that is also going to be well received. Here are some suggested involvement levels and rewards.

If someone donates $5-20, first off, Thank You, and for ALL those over $10, we will gladly mail you a Cross & Hammer bookmark.

If someone donates $20 or more, we will provide a bookmark, and a paperback copy of any of the first three fictions by Keith T Jenkins. You’ll also receive a digital copy of Bill Grace’s Snippets on Kindle or Nook – your choice.

If someone donates $40 or more, we will provide a personalized and autographed paperback of one of those same books! Bill’s Snippets, and a fiction of your choosing. Also, for anyone contributing more than $50, we will include a Certificate of Appreciation, along with our undying gratitude.

For someone donating $80 or more, receive a bookmark, and a set of Jenkins’ Misfits Made Fictions, and a Certificate.

For someone donating $150 or more, you will get a bookmark autographed by all of our current authors, an autographed hardcover copy of Misfit Toymakers!

The first Twenty at $300 or more will also get an Autographed Advance Copy of Finding Eleanor by Catelyn Critchfield-Wilson. These will be Proof Editions – that is the final copy before they go to press, after all the corrections we can find are made and approved. These will be signed, to you, by name, by Catelyn. If over $600, the first Twenty also get an Autographed Advance copy of Keith’s new end-of-time novel.

For someone donating $1500 or more, a very special Easter Egg for friends and family to enjoy. BRAGGING RIGHTS to Name a character in one of our upcoming Fictions named after someone – even you – or your wife, husband, the kids, beloved elder. If you want to name more than one, kick in an additional $500 per additional name. If you want their character traits or physical attributes included as parts of the character with their names, put another $200 per person (subject to character usability). If you have a long string of ex’s who are all the bane of your existence, we are certain they can all come to an untimely end in a thriller. These tributes can be explained (to preferred detail) in the back of each book – by whom, about whom, etc.

For anyone contributing $2000 or more, there will be Mystery Gratitude Prizes along with the other things – including a character naming privilege.

After contributing, please e-mail Keith to provide address info to receive your rewards. [email redacted]
