80 year old Club is fading

It is with great sadness and regret that after eight decades of service to the Buffalo, NY business community, The Mid-Day Club will soon cease current operations. This difficult decision was made as a direct result of a decline in usage and loss of members.
The Mid-Day Club of Buffalo opened its doors on the 21st floor of the Liberty Building in 1936, founded by forward thinking business community leaders. It provided a setting for communication and collaboration, with many taking advantage of the collective experience of the business forum. It has served as a private lunch club since then, offering one of the best (and only) panoramic views of the City of Buffalo.
Over the past several decades, membership included the most diverse backgrounds of professionals at all levels, and our ranks evolved to include a strong presence of women professionals. Our challenges have been daunting, but our accomplishments over the last decade have been quite impressive despite the decline in membership. There have been members that have remained loyal for many years, even decades, and that deserves great praise. We made a push several years ago for new equipment in the kitchen (our largest capital expenditure by far) and made it through. However, we are still in need of funds to continue operations.
The Club needs the funds as soon as possible to keep the doors open and to evolve our Club for younger business professionals as the lunch hour has become a thing of the past. The funds will go into a marketing campaign, membership drive, balancing our books, and keeping the doors open after 80 years!!
To show our thanks, donors of $50 or more will have access to the Club for one month without membership and a waived initiation fee if the donor chooses to join our club!
Our dedicated staff has been excellent, providing an unforgettable dining experience, and sharing many memories with us all. We’d like to thank them for their devotion to The Mid-Day Club, and for their continued support, especially during this time of need.
