Flavor of Poland is the first show in American Public TV history that will feature 13 episodes dedicated solely to Poland's heritage and culinary traditions. Each episode in the series will take viewers on a tour through one of Poland’s major regions, exploring the history and culinary customs of the area, followed by a segment in the kitchen where host, Aleksandra August, will show them how to recreate the tastes of Poland in their very own home.
The 13- episode Flavor of Poland series is being produced by Chicagoland-based TV & film production company, Independent Film Factory, Inc.
In the summer of 2016, the show was picked up (with a lot of excitement) by the national content and production team at WTTW in Chicago, and the public television network signed on as the co-producer of Flavor of Poland.
The pilot episode was aired on Chicago's WTTW HD Channel 11 (Chicago's leading public television station) at the end of October 2016 in honor of Polish Heritage Month. With little pre-promotion the the episode saw thousands of viewers during each broadcast and received many great reviews from Chicago TV audiences who now anticipate the remaining episodes with a lot of excitement.
The full, 13-episode series is scheduled to air on U.S. Public Television Channels nationwide starting January 2020.
According to WTTW, Flavor of Polandis a unique how-to program that showcases Poland and the merits of Polish cooking in a way that will resonate and become successful with viewers around the U.S.
Due to the nature of American Public Television operations, funding for such programs is entirely based on private funders/sponsors.
The Independent Film Factory team is in the midst of pre-production on the series and is still seeking support from an additional funders/sponsors.
Now we are aiming to rise a total of $85,000 to complete postproduction, that means:
- editing of 13 episodes
- color & sound correction
- making closed captions
-creating website dedicated to the program
All this process of postproduction must be finished to the end of 2019.
We have been working on this project for many years and now we've got an opportunity to complete it.
