ZSL Women’s First Football Fundraiser- From Zero to Kick-Off

We’re a group of women working at ZSL London Zoo, and we’ve swapped lab coats and laptops for shin pads and studs! A few months ago, some of us had never kicked a ball before — now we’re training weekly, bruises and all, to take part in a 6–8-a-side football competition next month.

We’re a real mixed team: some of us have played in clubs before, while others have just learned the rules (or at least most of them…). What started as a casual kickabout has turned into a fantastic way to build confidence, fitness, and friendship across departments.

Now, we’ve signed up for an amazing competition that supports AFC Wimbledon Foundation’s football outreach, helping make football more accessible to the community. The entry fee goes directly toward their outreach efforts — so by helping us get on the pitch, you're helping more people access the game too. We’re asking for a little help to cover the entry fee and a few basic costs to get us there — anything extra will go straight back to AFC Wimbledon Foundation.
