Hi, my name is Gayla Carter I’m a 38 yr old mother of 3...I have twins boy/girl that are 1 and a 12 yr old son. I developed CHF after giving birth to my twins last yr, July 2017. I’ve been in n out the hospital since then, I’m currently in the hospital waiting for heart transplant  as I type this up. I’ve been here at Barnes Jewish since June 7, 2018. I cannot go home until I receive a heart transplant, my heart is that weak. It’s been a struggle mentally physically and as well financially. I once was a full time working and  full of life mother with overall good health. Giving birth to the twins put such a great strain on my heart, it left me with 20% ef(ejection fraction). I have a defibrillator, but it’s no longer useful due to my often irregular heart beat and now a heart is my only option to living a normal life. If I do not get a heart transplant, I will not be able to see my kids. I missed my twins 1st bday, my son 1st day school (7th grade), often times, the twins hardly knows who I am , due to me being away from them, I’m missing the most important yrs of their growing life. This has been a lot on me mentally physically and emotionally. I’ve waiting for a heart longer than what expected  due to not having enough donors, ppl need to become donors. It’s very important that ppl understand that by donating an organ u can save someone else life.  I stay in a 2 bedroom apt with my 3 children, my lease is up in October, 2018. I need a bigger place for us all. I’m asking for money to help with the support of my children n living arrangements. Anything will help n will greatly appreciated.
