On March 30, 2019, our family lost a very special person due to a negligent health care system. Robert Abbott left this earth in the most sad, heartbreaking way. He entered this flawed healthcare system on November 12, 2018 and never escaped its grip.
From what we know, the staff at the rehab did not render aid when alerted to Bob's distress and waited a few hours before doing so, at which time it was too late.
We need to know what happened that night so we can prevent it from happening to others.
Unfortunately, an autopsy was rendered unnecessary by the hospital since it is not a criminal investigation (yet). We are taking those steps.
His family is requesting an autopsy so we have some sense of what took place. The cost for one is $7,000, more than any of us have right now. This is not easy to ask for help.
His medical bills and rehab bills alone are something we can't even think about right now, but this is one thing we need done, and need done asap.
Anything you can contribute is appreciated. We will be having a service in a couple weeks and hopefully making some big strides with the lawmakers in this state so this never happens to another family again. We are hoping to get Bob a military service since he served in Vietnam and deserves AT LEAST that.
