East meets Texas. Since first attending The Kerrville Folk Festival seven years ago I have been percolating with the potential of a project based on an Eastern Canadian's exposure to the culture and the fabulous songwriting talent of Texas.
Skin & Jones, Paul Brushett and Thomas Majcan, are a Halifax based musical duo. Incorporating influences from folk, americana, blues, classic rock, celtic, bluegrass, country, western swing and jazz they create a unique (mostly) acoustic sound. We have put together a collection of originals and covers written by some fabulous Texan songwriters who have been kind enough to allow us to interpret their work.
In order to produce our first CD we need to raise funds for recording and manufacturing. We have the plan, we just need the freedom to carry it out. With funding in place we hope for a release by summer 2016.
The ability to concentrate on the project as a whole without the need to break it into small pieces to conform to current budget restrictions will be huge. We will be most grateful for your support.
Update: Progress has been slower and more expensive than anticipated, so we have updated the goal accordingly. On the plus side, it's going great!
