Team Tucker

My name is Melanie Scroggins. This fundraiser is for my nephew Tucker Scroggins and his family.

On Saturday, January 11, Tucker came down with the flu. It ran its course like the flu typically does, and by Tuesday morning, he seemed to be on the mend. That evening, however, things took a turn for the worst.

Tucker began feeling nauseous and started throwing up. Immediately after, his extremities started turning purple.

He was taken to the emergency room at UT Children’s, and they quickly learned that his heart had started shutting down. The flu had attacked his heart.

With his heart functioning at only 11%, he was transported to Vanderbilt Children’s and has been in the PCICU since. After running multiple tests, he had to undergo open-heart surgery on January 16 to have the support machine attached directly to his heart to help his blood pump throughout his body.

His heart is still very sick, and it will be a long road to recovery.

Ultimately, the biggest support anyone can give is their prayers. God has already been so gracious, and we know that He has Tucker in His hands.

My brother and sister-in-law will be staying by his side on this long road, which could be months.

Aside from prayer, I have set up this GoFundMe to help cover, not only medical bills, but also the months of work missed so that Tucker can have his parents by his side.
