I am having major surgery on December 23rd to remove two large tumors from my right ovary. There is a chance I may lose the ovary, and while I'm in the clear thus far for cancer, it’s still a concern. These tumors have caused significant pain and have made daily life difficult.
I work two jobs—one as an independent contractor and one for a small business—as a peer support specialist and life coach. I’m also a graduate student in a therapy and counseling program, and I’ve had to take time off school to address this health issue, which has added to my struggle.
Because neither job offers paid medical leave, I will be without income for at least two weeks after surgery, and although I'm confident my insurance will cover the procedure, I'm still responsible for any unexpected out-of-pocket costs that may come up on top of my usual living expenses. Between this, time off work, and basic living expenses, things have become overwhelming. I’ve been selling crochet items to help support myself, but pain and fatigue have made it difficult to keep up.
Any financial support will directly help with:
• Rent & utilities
• Groceries & basic needs
• Medical bills & recovery supplies
I’ll keep everyone updated as I recover so you know how I’m doing.
Asking for help is not easy for me, especially during a difficult time of year for so many people. I care deeply about the work I do supporting others with their mental health, and I want to recover quickly so I can get back to supporting my community. Any amount of support would be greatly appreciated and would help me prioritize my healing.
Thank you for reading, and for any support or sharing you can offer!
