Lisa Rich is a Bad Ass Bitch
Hello one and all!
Going to give a little rundown of what we are doing and why we are doing it!
Who: Josie Wilson, Katey Conway, Anna Bruce, Byron Fulkerth, Ben Prout
What: a sprint triathlon if we reach $2000 and an OLYMPIC DISTANCE if we exceed that
When: July 24th, 2021
Where: Vancouver, BC
Why: Josie here! Lisa Rich is sunshine in the human form! She is positive, hilarious, raised two incredibly wonderful sons whom I've had the pleasure of becoming lifelong friends with, and has been through the ringer the last few years but has kept her chin up and crushed each obstacle in front of her. A couple of months ago Lisa found out she has Pancreatic Cancer. Her entire outlook is nothing short of inspirational and her bravery is nothing short of incredible. Lisa mentioned on the phone to me that one thing that she is disappointed about is that she can't fulfill her goal of completing a triathlon this summer due to the long treatment road ahead. I got off the phone with her, immediately texted my close friends Katey, Ben, Anna and Byron and said "hey we are going to do a triathlon in two months for Lisa Rich because she is a badass bitch!" Without hesitation they were all in! We are all doing this in Lisa's name to lift her spirits during treatment via training updates, swim attempts, bike clip-in falls etc. We hope to raise some awareness about a type of Cancer we all should know more about and raise some funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation of Canada.
Our team goal is to raise $3000, if we raise over $2000 we will complete an Olympic distance triathlon (double the distance of a sprint). We for sure aren't swimmers, we aren't runners and we are at the very most recreational bikers so this is going to be a grind regardless of the distance. Any and all support is greatly appreciated! If you can donate any amount of money we are so grateful! We know covid has been really financially draining so if donating isn't in the cards, any words of encouragement for Lisa during her treatment journey are incredibly valuable. We will also need a few volunteers with us on the road on July 24th so if you'd like to get involved please reach out!
We will be posting updates on our socials! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this
Sincerely,
The Lisa Rich is a Badass Bitch team
Please see below for more information about the Pancreatic Foundation of Canada
https://pancreaticcancercanada.ca/pancone-network/
Pancreatic Cancer Canada has taken on one of the world's deadliest cancers. A disease with virtually no progress in survival in the past 40 years, pancreatic cancer has a 92% mortality rate. We are aggressively fighting it with investments in research aimed at greater understanding of this cancer and better treatment options. At the same time, we are working to educate physicians about faster diagnosis and with patients/families to support them as they face the realities of this cancer in their lives.
