Winter Gear - Water Drop LA
Every Sunday, Water Drop LA distributes 2,500+ gallons of water, hundreds of snacks and dozens of donated clothing items to people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles's Skid Row. This mutual aid aims to mitigate some of the consequences of the City's inaction, which has already led to extremely inaccessible drinking water, a shortage of safe places to stay and severe food insecurity, among other things.
As we distribute water, we try our best to bring other necessities like sleeping bags, tents and warm blankets along with us. However, we rely on donated items from the community and a small portion of our water/food/ice budget to purchase these items. With nighttime temperatures in LA starting to drop, we're hoping to scale up our inventory of winter gear to meet urgent needs.
Every year, more unsheltered residents die from hypothermia in Los Angeles than in New York. We can combat this together.
Your donations will go towards:
- Sleeping bags
- Thermal blankets
- Tarps (to prevent ripped tents from letting water inside)
- Tents
- & other winter gear
Thank you for your support!
