Wheelchair van repairs for the Lehman family

Hi, my name is Patty Hopkins and I’m starting this GoFundMe for my parents. The transmission needs to be replaced on their wheelchair van, and the cost is $5,600.00.

A little back story:

My parents were married in June of 1976! They raised 5 children, who now have families of their own. On May 18, 2005, my father- Fredrick Lehman, was in a car accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. He was on a ventilator in Rochester until September 2006. He was then transferred to Elderwood to get him closer to home. By December, the doctor had him off the ventilator and finally HOME!

My mother, Eileen Lehman, has been his sole caregiver since December 2006. She also worked a full time job until the spring of 2020. He has had many medical battles, but she has always done what’s best and taken care of him- through sickness and in health.

last Saturday (September 16th) their van broke down. Luckily, a friend who also has a wheelchair van, was able to pick them up and get my dad home.

The mechanic has informed them that the transmission is completely done and has a price tag of $5,600.00!

For everything my parents have been through, they’ve never asked for help. I’m asking for help for them to help offset the costs of this monstrous bill.
