West Point Ballet Building Dreams
Donazione protetta
This is Cynthia Castillo and Damien Martinez Coro, we are originally from Cuba. We graduated from the National Ballet School of Havana, Cuba, where we met and fell in love with each other 14 years ago. We are fighters, and believers, at only 19 years old 90 miles put us apart, and we did the impossible to be reunited. Yes, a homemade boat was built, and an ocean crossed to get back together. Twelve years in America, overcoming the struggles of being on our own, getting used to a new culture, new language, new everything has made us stronger and unstoppable.
After coming to this great nation, the land of opportunities, we could not hold back without giving ourselves the chance to pursuit, and make a reality what you could only dream about in Cuba, freedom. So, we went on a mission to take charge of our lives, and make the best out of every day. We survived being alone, we made it into major ballet companies, we put ourselves through school, earned degrees on Physical Therapy and Business and we achieved opening our very own ballet school in 2014, West Point Ballet, in Coraopolis Pennsylvania.

Since then, West Point Ballet has grown from 20 to 125 students. Our school has made an incredible impact on the community, enriching the culture of this redeveloping town. Inspired by our commitment to our students and Classical Ballet, we purchased a 12,000 square feet facility to be the permanent home of West Point Ballet. This new facility is going to allow us to better serve the learning experience of our students, as well as improving the business district of Downtown Coraopolis. At the moment we are faced by financial difficulties with the full completion of the remodeling process. Throughout this process we have been challenged with unforeseen obstacles that have drained part of our construction loan, as well as an initial management team that underestimated the construction budget of the project, leaving us behind with a big bill to fill. These circumstances were not things that we could control and unfortunately now we really need help to fundraise the remainder of the building fund. We need all help we could get to turn this project into a full reality. At the moment our construction loan is only covering 6,000 square feet of the project.
We are writing in the hopes that you will find our cause worthy enough to spare some extra money to help us accomplish our dream and further the dreams of our students. Your money will be put to work hard into completing the whole vision we have for this building to serve our dancers.

Fundraising this money will mean the world to us, and our families at the school. We promise that if you help us to raise this money we will be a strong pillar in the community to support and educate the youth who come to take part in our programs. We do give back to the community through various service projects including scholarships for ballet students, hosting students in need and some other things as needed for the families in our studio and in the community.

Please help our campaign go viral by sharing it on social media.
