According to recent figures released by the Central Statistics Office, over 550,000 people in Ireland are experiencing poverty, 176,912 of whom are under 18-years-old. These struggles persist throughout the year, but now, as we come closer to Christmas, these struggles can be exacerbated, particularly for families who wish to make the Christmas period special for their children, but may not be in a position to do so.

In response to this, my colleagues and I, all of whom work directly with these families in social and community working roles, launched Happy Hampers. This charitable initiative aims to support those in Dublin North who are experiencing these challenges. Our aim is to provide gifts for these children, such as, selection boxes, toys, pyjamas, soap and shampoo sets, and books—simple but meaningful gifts that will bring joy and comfort during this time of year.

We believe that, with your help, we can ensure that none of these children wake up without a gift on Christmas morning. Your donations will help us to purchase items, like such, for these children, and remind them that they are seen, valued, and cared for.
