Walking through the darkness
For 24 hours, I’ll be walking 100 kilometres — not for fitness, not for fun, but for something far more important: men’s mental health.
This isn’t just a physical challenge. It’s a journey
that’s deeply personal. On December 24th, I ended up in hospital after a serious self-harming incident. It was the lowest point in my life—a place of pain, silence, and isolation I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
That day could have been the end of my story. But instead, it became the start of a new chapter. One where I speak up, instead of shutting down. One where I choose to walk through the darkness, not just for myself—but for every man who’s ever felt like there’s no way out.
Men don’t talk enough. We’re taught to be strong, to keep it in, to deal with things quietly. But the cost of silence is too high. I’ve seen it. I’ve lived it. And I’m walking to change it
This walk is for the mates who smile on the outside while struggling on the inside. For the brothers, fathers, sons, and friends who think they have to go it alone. For anyone who needs to know they are not alone—and that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
I’ll be walking through the night, through pain and fatigue—but with every step, I carry hope. Hope that someone reads this and feels less alone. Hope that we can break the silence, together.
If this message reaches you—if you’ve been there, or know someone who has—please consider donating, sharing, or simply checking in on a mate. Sometimes, one message, one question, one step… can save a life.
