I recently adopted Waffles, a Doodle mix, just two weeks ago from a family who could no longer care for her due to their growing family and expanding businesses. Waffles had been the center of attention in her previous home and began showing aggression toward the toddler and nanny. I truly believe this behavior stems from feeling displaced and confused rather than from a bad temperament.

Waffles will turn three in July and has not yet been spayed. She also has a noticeable buildup of tartar on her teeth, which concerns me because of the potential cost of dental care. In addition, she has irregular heat cycles, sometimes as often as every two months. Which is not typical for a dog her age and may indicate an underlying issue that requires veterinary attention.

She struggles with significant anxiety. If one person leaves the house, she panics and cries even when others are still home. She also pulls heavily on the leash during walks, but I believe this is due to a lack of proper training rather than unwillingness to learn. With patience, structure, and professional guidance, I know she has so much potential to thrive.

I adopted Waffles two weeks ago in hopes to help me as I continue to recover from surgery in 2025 and after being unemployed for the past 14 months. I hoped caring for her would support my recovery and help with my depression. Instead, I’ve realized she needs more help than I can currently afford on my own.

I am asking for support to help cover her veterinary care, spaying, dental treatment, and professional training so she can become the happy, healthy dog she deserves to be.
