Skinny Girls

A herd of 8 skinny mares and fillies have experienced death too many times due to neglect. Last weekend, another mare was found dieing in a ditch while her foal stood guard. Wonderful caring neighbors tried daily to save her while the owners never came. The sweet mare died Monday. 8 remain with one mare being the worst in the herd. We don’t want her to die next. “Gracie” is her new name. We are a group of caring passerby neighbors who have tried for years to correct this but no Polk county leaders or Sheriffs have been successful in taking these animals from the owners. So citizens are uniting and we will get them vet care, food has begun multiple times daily and hay has been donated. Many have reached out to offer help so I thought I’d take you all up on the offer to help Ms Gracie and her Skinny friends. We are trying to do the right thing for the right reasons. We don’t know enough about the owners to Judge and we really just want to fix the problem and help give these horses their health back. East Texas culture needs to change and appreciate animals. Neglect should not be tolerated. And initiative to right a wrong should start now. Thank you for helping us all.
