Hi, my name is Gillian Palmer, and this year I am part of the UCD Volunteers Overseas programme. In June 2025, I’ll be travelling to Kisiizi Hospital in Uganda to volunteer alongside a team of dietetics and physiotherapy students. Together, we’ll be supporting the hospital’s Community and Paediatric Rehabilitation Programme.

During my time there, I’ll be assisting local staff with a 2-week intensive therapy programme for children with cerebral palsy, home visits to provide nutrition and physio support & educational and community outreach initiatives to support families and caregivers.

I am aiming to raise €1,550. These funds will go directly toward supporting the hospital’s rehabilitation programme, including essential equipment, staff costs, accommodation, food, water, and transport during the placement.

In addition, I’ll be covering my own expenses for flights, visas, and vaccinations.
