Volunteer opportunity with Suwandi foundation

Hello, my name is Abigail Casavant and I'm trying to fundraise for the Suwandi Foundation volunteer program in Bali, Indonesia. I will be a part of the volunteer program during my gap year. I've been a lifelong Stowe resident, graduating class of 2023.

A Stowe alumni came into our school to talk about this amazing program and I was immediately intrigued. I had decided to take a gap year to do a bit of traveling with the intent to go into Early Education. The Suwandi Foundation's mission is "We use the power of education to give children the tools needed to break the cycle of poverty and achieve their dreams." I will be traveling to Bali with a group of volunteers to teach and work with the community as well as learn and be immersed in the culture. I will be in a classroom teaching as well as learning alongside these kids.

The money I will be raising pays for my flight there, as well as accommodations, meals and activities. This will also be paying for my visa, insurance, and safety measures. An important portion of this will be going back into the local community to assist with salaries. This is all about wanting to make a difference in this world. Targeting my focus on early education in an impoverished country is the best way I could think to go about it.
