Vicki's Life Changing Surgery
Donazione protetta
Hi, my name is Victoria, and I am a transwoman who is about to have the biggest surgery of my life. On the 23rd of July I will be undergoing gender reconstructive surgery to make my outside match what is going on inside. I booked my first consultation with my surgeon in June of 2022 for Nov of 2023, luckily they were able to move it forward to Aug of 2023, where I was told my surgery could not be until 2025 and I would be contacted closer to then as they do not book out that far in advance, and have now been contacted in the last month or so to say it's going ahead. So this has been a long time coming.
The surgery is taking place in Canberra and I will need to be there a few days prior for pre-operative tests as well as a week after i am discharged in case of any complications, which incurs heavy transportation and accommodation costs. In order to undergo the surgery I need to obtain a report from a specialist to signify that I am mentally prepared for the surgery and understand all the risks, have a good support system, etc. and that is estimated to cost somewhere in the $800-1000 range. The surgery is $30,000 and health insurance only covers a little more than $3000, the anaesthesia is also estimated to be around $3000 with medicare covering about $1000 of that, hopefully health insurance helps a little with that cost too. Plus of course, if there are any complications the costs keep rising.
I am lucky enough to have a mother who is willing to refinance her mortgage to help me pay for this surgery. To have such a supportive mother is a blessing I will never take for granted as people within the LGBTQIA+ community often do not have this kind of support, especially those who identify as trans. She raised me as a single mother working minimum wage and thus has already given me more than enough, so I am asking for the help of others so that I won't be even more of a financial burden than I already have.
As an incentive for donations, anyone who donates $50 or more will have the choice to receive a photo of the results a few months after surgery once all the swelling, bleeding, and scars have calmed down. So if you've ever been curious as to what a man-made vagina looks like, what the similarities and differences are compared to those which were gifted at birth, this is your opportunity! I will keep a list of the names of those who meet this criteria and when I am ready will reach out (to those i have contact details for) and ask if they want to receive an image, if you want to donate that much and not receive an image that is perfectly fine, don't worry, it's not compulsory haha.
If you wish to donate anonymously or cannot contribute $50+ that is perfectly fine, every dollar counts and will be appreciated immensely. I do not expect to raise the full cost of the surgery, the goal is simply that for clarification as I know many people are curious as to how much this kind of surgery costs. (This cost is specific to this surgeon and technique, the Peritoneal Vaginoplasty or PPV, and could vary depending on which surgery or technique the recipient decides on)
Please help me move further down the road to becoming the woman I was born to be.
