Team Laura!
We are Danny and Lucy Anderson, proud godparents of our niece, Laura Eng, of Esko MN (formerly Laura Palcher of Hermantown). Nine years ago, at age 28, Laura was diagnosed with MS. In recent months the disease has progressed rapidly Laura and her husband Peter just returned from Chicago where they found she was accepted for a stem cell transplant through the trial program at Northwestern Hospital. This procedure will involve three separate trips to Northwestern, two of which involve stays of 13 and 21 days. (See the links below for more information on stem cell transplants). This is her hope to return to an active lifestyle with her family.
From a young age Laura has shown a lively spirit and determination unmatched by anyone we know. From the soccer and track fields, to academics at the College of St. Scholastica and her career as a public health nurse, she has impressed her family, friends and colleagues with her dedication and drive. Her strength and stamina canoeing hundreds of miles in her beloved Quetico would test the resolve of many a veteran paddler, man or woman. She and Peter have raised their two children, Mason (11) and Marie (8) to reflect their values, and experience all that life has to offer.
If anyone epitomizes the meaning of “true grit”, it is Laura Eng. MS may have sapped her mobility, energy and strength, but she is taking on the fight to win as she has with any challenge she has faced. We are asking you to join us in this endeavor for a young woman who means so much to us.
Funds raised by this campaign will help pay for airfare, local transportation, and lodging. We appreciate any support you can give to Laura and her family.
GO TEAM LAURA! WE CAN DO THIS!
