Hello, I am Becky Merriweather. I'm starting this campaign/effort to help support my first cousin Vanessa Louie.
On behalf of her children, Constance, Gabrielle, and Brandon, I would like to thank everyone for the many prayers and support shown during the last couple of weeks. Vanessa was found unresponsive by Brandon on Tuesday March 7th. It was discovered that she had a serious blood infection called Septicemia. This condition was caused by a bacteria infection that entered her bloodstream. It also mastered and /or triggered pneumonia, meningitis, seizures, and a few other illnesses within her body. Upon the many tests that was performed, it was also discovered that she had suffered a stroke. After a week in ICU, she slowly started to respond. Due to the swelling and infection on the brain that was once present, she now has a long recovery which will include both speech and physical therapy and possibly other rehabilitative services.
As many of you know, Vanessa is a fighter! She's an amazing woman who's always been there for others. She's had open heart surgery in 2007, Hodgkin Lymphoma 2009, relapsed in 2012 with Non-Hodgkin and later harvested her own cells with Stem Cell Transplant. Yet again in 2014 a trace of cancer was found and she has been receiving chemo every 3 months.
Please include her and her family in your prayers. Vanessa will face a long road to recovery during which she will be unable to work and return to some resemblance of a "normal" life. She will face a lot of challenges; among other things she will need financial assistance.
It is my hope that, through the kindess of others, we can raise some funds to help offset her medical expenses. Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated!
