Joel’s Recovery

Joel was sent to Ochsner’s in Slidell, La on Christmas Eve after suffering a major stroke. After many test they found that he had suffered a mini stroke a couple of weeks prior and also that he has a hole in his heart that is allowing the blood clots through and causing the strokes. He was transported to the main Ochsner’s in NOLA on Sunday where he was seen by Cardiologist to decide on the best time to repair the hole. They want to give the brain more time to heal and the swelling to go down before doing the procedure on his heart. He was released to come home Monday. 
Joel is the main source of income for their family. As of right now he is going to be off of work for at least 2-3 months. Ashley will not be able to work either due to him needing her to care for him. He suffered memory loss and loss of most of his vision and requires round the clock monitoring of his vitals to keep meds regulated to prevent another possible massive stroke from happening until they can fix the heart.  They have numerous appointments ahead and at minimum one more hospital stay. 

They will have a lot of financial burdens ahead and no source of income and bills won’t stop coming because of sickness.
