Help us fund our Homebirth

Hi everyone, my name is Sydney and I'm creating this gofundme on behalf of myself and my growing family. For any of you that know me you know that I firmly believe every family should have the right to create the birth that they desire, and have access to any resources they need to make it possible.

For those that don't know me, I work as a birth educator and doula to assist women in self empowerment and radical transformation through the journey of entering into motherhood...a path I was inspired to choose after the birth of my first daughter.

She was born unmedicated at a birth center, and while her birth was a very beautiful experience it also left me feeling that not only could we have birthed at home, but that it is our most original way, a path that I knew I would follow once we conceived our second child.

And now here we are, in the third trimester only 13 weeks away from being full term...It is said that the spirit of the child chooses the circumstances through which they enter the world, and I felt that this baby was calling in the support of an experienced wise midwife to hold space for our family.

So, we interviewed many midwives and felt deeply aligned with the women at Kindred Space LA. It was such a relief to find a team that felt like a perfect fit, but as other financial responsibilities began to add up we quickly realized that we didn't have the means to pay for midwifery care.

I never expected to find myself in the scenario of having limited options for my own birth due to finances. I've applied for funding through multiple organizations but I missed the deadline for many, and was denied by the rest.

And so in a sort of last attempt, I have turned to the one place where I have always felt genuinely supported and loved, our community.

Traditionally families have always lived together in support of one another, it is a practice as old as time. And yet in the modern day we have largely lost many of the values, benefits, and improved quality of life that comes from having the upliftment of the village.

I know that this village, this community, is not lost forever. And I am asking those that feel it too to show up for us as a part of the community we will need to bring this child into the world.

Every dollar that is donated here goes towards creating a family centered, gentle birth for us and our new little one. I believe that donations of any amount make a difference, after all the ocean is but a collection of small little drops that make up one of the most powerful forces on earth, is it not?

So with that being said, I say thank you from the depths of my heart to each and every person that has shared our page and donated to our birth fund.
