Urgent medical expenses for trans woman in Guyana

My name is Millie and I am a transgender woman from Guyana. I am a purpose-driven Trans Advocate and a member of the Trans Community in Guyana. I advocate for the rights and wellbeing of Trans people. My expertise lies in effectively providing coordination and provision of support services. Presently, I am advocating for legal gender identity recognition in my country.

 

My work has impacted thousands of Trans people including victims of gender-based violence, homelessness, people affected by poverty, and persons living with HIV/AIDS. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I garnered financial support to assist my Trans community with food hampers, rent and utility bills assistance. I empowered my Trans community, who are forced out of school, with numeracy and literacy and pastry making and cake decorating. I have established relationships with Trans networks across the world with the aim of building the capacity of local trans- led groups. I dedicated my life to the service of others, working assiduously in ensuring that the design and delivery of capacity building initiatives are not only user friendly but are of a high standard.

 

Over the last six months I have been suffering from septic arthritis in my right hip. I am on treatment and am slowly recovering. Recently, my right foot became swollen and very painful, and I was diagnosed with a blood clot (Deep Vein Thrombosis) in one of the deep veins in my thigh. I have to undergo a procedure to prevent the clot from reach my lungs or heart. This procedure is not offered at the Public hospitals; it will be done at a private hospital. I am reaching out to you for any financial assistance that you can afford to help me. The money raised will pay for the procedure and for my living expenses as I recover.
