Save Point Pleasant: Stop The Destruction of Our Historic Neighborhood!

Please see our website and follow our social media to see more beautiful historic homes.

Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Supporters,

We are Protect the Point, a nonprofit fighting to preserve the historic charm of Bradenton’s Point Pleasant neighborhood. Our community is under attack, and we need your help to raise funds for legal fees to fight three unfair ordinances that favor one business over our historic homes. Your donation will protect our 150-year-old neighborhood and keep it a vibrant, unique place to live.

Goal: $55,000– Every dollar helps us hire attorneys to save our community! We need our voices heard; otherwise, history will be lost.

Why We’re Fighting

A corporate entity, Westminster, is threatening Point Pleasant by:

• Demolishing historic homes.

• Buying up land to build 12-story towers, just meters from historic homes.

• Pushing to expand for profit, ignoring our community’s needs.

• Westminster Point Pleasant expansion approvals by the City of Bradenton:

• Increases density in flood-prone areas from 15 to 40 units per acre, risking safety and straining infrastructure.

• Reclassifies Westminster’s land to Urban Central Business District, prioritizing profit over people.

• Rezones their property to allow 12-story buildings with zero lot lines, threatening our historic homes.

This is extreme zoning designed for one business, not our community. Construction alone could damage our fragile, historic structures, and our failing infrastructure can’t handle more density.

Why Historic Preservation Matters

• Point Pleasant is Bradenton’s history: Our 150 year-old homes are irreplaceable treasures.

• Unique charm: These homes draw visitors, boost pride, and create a sense of community that corporate towers can’t replicate.

• Once gone, they’re gone forever: We’re fighting to save our neighborhood’s soul.

The City is not complying with their own Form Base Code approved in 2011 and 2016.

Westminster’s expansion:

• Ignores residents: These ordinances silence our voices.

• Overwhelms infrastructure: More density in a flood-prone area risks safety.

• Erases our identity: Generic high-rises replace our historic charm.

This isn’t progress—it’s a takeover of our tight-knit community.

How Your Donation Helps

We welcome thoughtful development, but we won’t let corporate interests bulldoze our heritage. Your support funds our legal battle to:

• Hire skilled attorneys to challenge the Westminster expansion approvals.

• Secure a seat at the table to ensure Westminster’s plans respect our neighborhood.

• Protect historic homes and preserve Point Pleasant’s unique character.

Why Your Support Matters

• Every dollar counts: Your donation fights for fairness and historic preservation.

• Send a message: Show Bradenton our heritage isn’t for sale.

• Save Point Pleasant: Keep our neighborhood a place of history, pride, and community.

Donate now and share this campaign with friends, family, and anyone who cares about historic neighborhoods. Together, we can stop Westminster’s overreach and protect the heart of Point Pleasant!

With heartfelt thanks,
