Millions of Zimbabweans living outside the country's borders for both political and economic reasons are frustrated!!!!!!!!
The diaspora vote promised by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 2018 ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections did not materialise. New elections are around the corner and Zimbabweans in the diaspora would like to participate in these elections, through voting from the countries they are based in, in fulfilment of the president's promise and in fulfilment of constitutional provisions and universal suffrage. through voting from the various countries that they are based in.
Allowing millions of Zimbabweans living in the diaspora to vote would help in promoting and strengthening democracy and ensuring that Zimbabwe is led by a government that truly reflects the democratic will of its people.
Cognisant of the above, we, under the Zimbabwe Diaspora Vote Initiative, ABN 14608339944, a non-profit organisation, intend to mount a legal challenge in the courts and sponsor a diaspora vote bill in parliament before the proclamation of the election date to ensure that Zimbabweans cast their ballots in the upcoming general elections due in 2028 but we do not have resources to finance this exercise.
We therefore do hereby launch an urgent appeal for funds amounting to AU$20,000 to fund this exercise. The funds will be used towards meeting expenses for lawyers to draft and file court papers, drafting of the diaspora vote bill for presentation in parliament, and other administration costs.
