Hello, my name is Hadeel Abuhajer, and I live in London, Ontario, Canada. I'm reaching out to share the heartbreaking story of my cousin, Fatmeh Muhanna, a mother of two, who is currently trapped in Gaza with her husband and children under unimaginable conditions.
Fatmeh’s family lived a peaceful and beautiful life before October 7. But since that tragic day, everything has fallen apart. They spent a month and a half in northern Gaza, clinging to hope, until they were forced to flee south when the danger closed in on them. The army threatened their area, and they had no choice but to leave—again and again. They've been displaced multiple times, each time carrying only fear, loss, and a desperate hope for safety.
They've endured hunger, thirst, and constant fear. For months, they had no clean water to drink or healthy food to eat—just the bare minimum to survive. Every single day brought new threats to their lives.
They eventually found themselves in displacement tents in Rafah. But those tents offered no real protection—scorching heat in the summer, freezing cold in the winter. They suffered from swarms of insects, snakes, disease, and a terrifying shortage of water. Their living conditions were beyond what any family should ever have to bear.
At one point, they thought they might finally be safe in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis. But that hope was short-lived. Airstrikes hit the tents around them every day. The place that was supposed to be their refuge became a target. Their tent was burned to the ground. The children were terrified. There was no safe place for them at all.
Now, even after the ceasefire, they have nowhere to go. Their home is gone. Their security is gone. Their lives are still in danger, and the cold winter winds have blown away what little shelter they had. Fatmeh is terrified for her children, not just because of the bombs—but because of the freezing cold. She fears for their lives.
They desperately need support. They need hope. They need a chance to live the life they deserve—a life where their children are safe, warm, fed, and free to grow up without fear.
Please, don’t let them be forgotten. Any amount of help, no matter how small, can make a huge difference. Sharing their story is just as powerful as donating.
Your compassion and support are the light guiding them through this overwhelming darkness. ❤️
Thank you for standing with them.
