Upgrade Luma’s hands!

Hey, I’m Luma, or Amelia if you wanna get personal.

I didn’t have an interest in making this but at the behest (pestering) of my friends, as a way to help me fund my surgery, I have.

I’m 25, work full-time editing videos for creators, and in January I was finally diagnosed with carpal tunnel. You might know of carpal tunnel, your grandparents warning you not to play too many video games because you’ll get it. Turns out they were right!

The short of it is: my hands hurt. A lot.

The long version: Using my hands hurts like a mother. I take painkillers to no avail, I rest them, I brace, and it still hurts. And it burns like fire. Everything from my forearms to the backs of my fingers feels like a pulsing heat that hurts to move. Some days I can’t put the weight on my hand to even get out of bed, or hold a fork long enough to finish my dinner.

Tldr; it sucks. And I’ve done what my specialist asked, and none of that worked, so now we need to operate.

The operation is entirely why I’ve made this, as I simply can’t afford to get it, probably until next year. And by then, I might not have the strength to keep working, which I’d like to avoid.

If you’re curious, the operation is keyhole surgery, in both of my hands to be clear. It’s a day surgery, not heavily covered by Medicare (Australian healthcare) and is being taken care of by my specialist who is a private doctor. The recovery will be 6-8 weeks before I’m back to normal, twice, since it’s a bad idea to do both hands at the same time- I need to be able to wipe my ass aha.
