unleashed dog who attacked my mom's pup-We need help

Hi, my name is Paige, and I’m starting this GoFundMe for my mom, Gina, and her dog Jax—who is more than just a pet, he’s her entire heart.

On the evening of June 24th, my mom was walking Jax around the block when they were viciously attacked by an unleashed German Shepherd. Jax was mauled so severely that he had to be rushed into emergency surgery. He also has Addison’s disease, which made the procedure incredibly risky.

My mom didn’t come out of it unscathed either. She was pulled so hard trying to protect Jax that her shoulder is now in a sling. She’s heading to urgent care in the morning, and we’re bracing for more medical bills to come.

Right now, Jax is in surgery. He’s fighting. And my mom is trying to hold it all together while worrying about him, her own injuries, and how to afford this sudden $2,000+ vet bill—on top of whatever her own medical care ends up costing. We expect the total expenses to be close to $5,000.

We’ve filed with animal control, and there’s a chance this dog has attacked before, but even if we can get reimbursed later, they need help now.
