Unexpected Loss: Father passes away over Christmas

Hello, my name is Courtney and I am trying to help raise funds for my dear friend Rilie. Rilie’s significant other Jake, unexpectedly passed away after 13 years together, during their family Christmas trip to Florida. Jake also leaves behind an 8 year old daughter, Harper.

After landing in Florida Saturday night, Jake and family got settled into their air bnb. Jake and his dad left to get some food for everyone, before gathering for a game of Yahtzee. That night they had planned to relax and enjoy each others company.

Later on that evening, Rilie and Jake stepped outside where Jake began coughing very hard and fell backward, hitting his head on the concrete. When Rilie pulled him up, Jake was not able to recall much. Jake was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, and it was determined that he had a brain bleed. Jake was sedated and put on a ventilator.

This all took place on Christmas Eve.

After several days of being in the ICU, Jake passed away on December 30th.

Going forward, Rilie, Harper and their families lives will be changed forever. We want to give Rilie’s family financial support at this time to cover medical bills, funeral costs and any other bills they may have.

Christmas will forever be associated with the loss of Jake.
