UCSC Basketball Shooting Machine
Donation protected

My name is Chris Cilia and I am the father of Corey Cilia, a junior guard who plays for the UCSC Men's Intercollegiate Basketball Team. As I am sure that all of you know, the UCSC administration provides minimal financial support for their intercollegiate athletic teams. The University reportedly provides only $20,000 to the men's basketball program and the team is forced to fund raise $35,000 in order to even have a season.
Most successful high school and college basketball programs have a shooting/rebounding machine so that players can get up a lot of practice shots in a short period of time. I was both surprised and disappointed three years ago when I found out that UCSC did not have a working machine. In my conversations with Coach DuBois and Coach Kent, the UCSC women's basketball coach, it is evident that on their shoe string budgets there are no funds for this essential tool. I have spent the last three years combing ebay and the internet, and also networking with my contacts on high school and college basketball teams, trying to procure a good used shooting machine to no avail. My goal is to purchase one for our team before the start of next season but I can't do it by myself.
I am confident that we as parents, family, and friends of the team can provide a good portion of the funds for Coach DuBois to buy a new "Dr. Dish" shooting machine that costs about $5000. Coach DuBois is soliciting help from the UCSC Women's Basketball Team and I am hopeful that they will collaborate with us since they will also benefit from this great tool. My wife Tu-Anh and I have set-up a GoFundMe account for anyone who is able to donate to this worthwhile cause. Thank you for considering my request.
