Helping Purnima's Family Rebuild

As many of you may know, our dear nanny Purnima was fortunate. Her entire family, including her father, husband, and son, survived the horrific series of earthquakes in her homeland of Nepal. Unfortunately, their home in Kathmandu was completely destroyed. They’ve lost everything. Purnima has been away from her family for over 15 years, working tirelessly to send money home to help support them. As you might expect, the loss is devastating. To help Purnima and her family rebuild their home, we are starting a small fund. We’re only reaching out to close family and friends—in particular the people who have been touched, as we have, by Purnima’s grace, love, and friendship—and anyone else who has expressed interest in contributing. Every little bit helps, but please do not feel obligated in any way. If you feel more comfortable donating through more organized charities, we encourage you to do so, but with so many organizations trying to help there, it can be very hard to know specifically how your support is being used. We have chosen to organize this fund out of love, and because we’d like to see our help go directly to people who need it. This fund will help both Purnima’s family and their large community of extended family and friends in Kathmandu.
