Hi, my name is Angie and I am Tyler’s older sister. I am setting up this Go Fund Me for him and his wife Nicole.
As many of you know, Tyler was diagnosed with Stage 3A seminoma testicular cancer last June. He underwent 9 weeks of extensive chemotherapy treatments, plus numerous medical issues that arose because of side effects from receiving the chemo treatments. He completed his treatments in August and had a PET scan in October and received good news that he was cancer free! In December he had a checkup with his oncologist and had a chest x-ray done and was told that everything looked good!
Tyler was able to return to work full time the beginning of January; however, he was unable to fulfill a full week of work because after the removal of the stent that was helping drain his kidney, he immediately started having intense pain at all times with random nausea and vomiting throughout each day. Tyler went in to see his urologist regarding his symptoms and intense pain and a CT scan and ultrasound of his kidney were performed and showed it to only be working at 13%. At this time, it was decided that his right kidney would need to be removed and that was set up for March 4th. It was believed that all his pain and symptoms were stemming from the kidney just not working properly.
On February 9th, Tyler went to the ER because he was in unbearable pain. He received pain management and a CT scan and was discharged later that day. A few days later Tyler received the results of that scan from his oncologist and was told that a mass was found. He was admitted to the hospital the next morning to start five days of chemotherapy and a biopsy of the mass was performed. As of now, the only information we have regarding the biopsy is that it is of the same type, seminoma testicular cancer, as the first time. There was a high possibility that it could have come back as non-seminoma, which is a more aggressive form.
Tyler’s oncologist has recommended a second opinion from Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. The tissue from his biopsy was sent to Mayo for further pathology and we are currently awaiting those results, as well as a plan of treatment and when they will have to travel to Minnesota. I will be adding updates as soon as we know more, as well as throughout his treatment.
This Go Fund Me will help to alleviate some of the medical and travel expenses for Tyler and Nicole and to hopefully take some of the financial burden and stress off of their shoulders as they navigate this second consecutive cancer diagnosis.
Any prayers, words of encouragement, well wishes and any monetary donations will be greatly appreciated by Tyler and Nicole and their families. Thank you so much for your support!
