Hello, my name is Chandler Langford, and I have started this GoFundMe campaign for my son, Tucker Langford. I would like to take a moment to share a bit about Tucker. Tucker is three years old, born December of 2021. At birth, Tucker was missing skin on his feet, hands, lips, and chest. He was transported to a nearby children's hospital, where he was diagnosed with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB), a severe genetic skin disorder characterized by fragile skin that blisters easily, even from minor trauma, also known as "butterfly skin." Due to Tucker's skin condition, it affects his ability to walk long distances, necessitating the use of a wheelchair.
The wheelchair has enabled Tucker to maintain his independence as a three-year-old. Despite his challenges, Tucker consistently brings joy and laughter to those around him. He loves talking about his trucks, playing with his baby brother, and spending time with his family. Tucker is one of the best storytellers you will ever meet.
I am establishing this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for Tucker. Acquiring a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for Tucker would alleviate concerns about safely transporting him to and from school during inclement weather. It would also protect Tucker's wheelchair from potential damage. Currently, Tucker is secured in a car seat; a wheelchair van would enable him to remain in his wheelchair, ensuring comfort and minimizing the risk of additional open wounds.
It would mean a lot to our family if we, as the community, can raise enough funds so we can get a vehicle that is suitable for Tucker's needs.
Thank you for your time.
