Keep the Show on the Road! - Trinity Arts Centre
The idea to have a dedicated space for drama production in the community of Castlerea came over 20 years ago from Castlerea Drama Group and its gifted director, the late Micheal O Flynn. Castlerea Community Arts Group set up as a limited company and have been the driving force behind the extensive restoration of Holy Trinity Church into a beautiful multi functional space within our community. Castlerea and west Roscommon is deserving of a top class facility that will enhance all our lives. The existence of this fine facility has added value to our town and community.
Trinity is a shining example of what can be achieved when liked minded determined people work together for the betterment of our own place. This 200 year old church of historical significance was in a bad state of dereliction when Castlerea Community Arts Group took on this challenge. As with so many beautiful old buildings it would have been left a ruin, an eyesore in our town. Instead we have this beautifully and tastefully restored building which has been given a new lease of life and is preserved for future generations as a space for creativity, fun and community gatherings for years to come.
Trinity Arts Centre has been closed to events since March 2020. As with all voluntary organisations we are dependent on our audiences and local community to sustain the project financially. We have not been able to access any covid grant assistance as we do not fit the remit as ‘providing a service to the community’.
We are appealing to Castlerea people at home and abroad to support us in getting up and running again. We have reopening costs associated with insurance, rent, light and heat as well as additional Covid costs.
All contributions are welcome, and because we are a registered charity business donations can be offset against tax.
As a thank you for your kind donations, Trinity Arts Centre will host an online concert starring the finest of local talent which will be shown live on Facebook on July 11th 7pm - 8.30pm. A taster for the real thing in months to come!
