Our aunt, Kelli Sheffield, whom most of you know as Kelli McCoy Sheffield, was diagnosed with a brain tumor, specifically a Grade 2 oligodendroglioma (there are only 2 stages of these tumors) in April of this year. Kelli underwent a craniotomy on 4/28/21 at The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Unfortunately, the neurosurgeon was unable to remove it completely as it involves the medial cerebral artery, and injury to this artery would have resulted in severe motor and memory dysfunction/disability. After reviewing Kelli’s latest MRIs performed this week, her radiation oncologist and neuro-oncologist at MUSC have advised that it is necessary to proceed with radiation therapy followed by chemotherapy. Because the treatments are daily, Kelli will be residing in Charleston for an extended period of time.
We desperately want to help take some of the financial burden off of her and have decided to do a Go Fund Me.
I know all of this is shocking to most, but if you know Kelli, you know that she is a very private person, doesn’t want attention, and prefers to be in the background. The only thing Kelli has asked for from the few who do know is prayer, as she has been fervently praying, seeking the Lord, and trusting Him with all that concerns her. Kelli does not have social media; she cannot look at phone or computer screens very long at all.
Your support of any amount would go towards helping Kelli get a place to stay in Charleston while undergoing her daily radiation treatments. If there is any money left over, the remaining proceeds will then go to travel and medical bills. There is still a long road ahead of us but we are staying positive. For we know who holds tomorrow and we can easily hold on to that on the hard days. We ask that you keep Kelli and Kelli’s daughter Bailee in your prayers.
