My name is Maddie and 3 years ago l was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.  This means my blood sugar levels can drop dangerously low which cam cause me to collapse and potentially go into a coma or go dangerously high resulting in long term damage to my organs, eyesight and limbs.
This is where my dog Tracey comes in. She is being trained by the wonderful charity HYPO HOUNDS to keep me safe by alerting me as my sugar levels start to go to low or high. As well as keeping me safe during the day, she will keep me safe at night letting me and my Mum and Dad sleep soundly at night.
I am completing this triathlon to help raise money for her training (its very expensive!!)
As well as getting fit , l have the added complication of managing my diabetes as l compete as exercise makes my sugar levels drop very low.
