Together for Goma: A Community in Crisis

Our names are Linda, Simplice, Manuella, and Benjamin Ndanze. We were born in Kinshasa, Congo, and our parents were born and raised in Goma, North Kivu. By God’s grace, we moved to Canada as refugees when we were young, blessed to grow up in a peaceful country—never having to experience the horrors of war, hunger, or displacement like so many in Congo.

But today, our hearts are heavy.

The people of Goma, including our own family, are living through an unimaginable crisis. Our uncle’s house was bombed, and our grandmother and cousins were forced to flee with nothing but the clothes on their backs. This is not just our story—this is the heartbreaking reality for millions of Congolese people right now.

Despite the suffering, the world remains silent. Western media barely covers the atrocities happening in Congo, and we, like many in the Congolese diaspora, feel the pain of being unheard, unseen, and forgotten. But we refuse to stay silent.

We are calling on you to stand with Goma.

What’s Happening in Congo, Goma?

Right now, Goma is under siege. Armed conflicts, bombings, and mass displacement have turned the city into a war zone. Over 7 million people have been displaced, and entire communities have been wiped out. Women and children are the most vulnerable—facing starvation, violence, and an uncertain future.

Families are sleeping in overcrowded refugee camps without access to food, water, or medical care. Many have no idea if their loved ones are alive or dead.

Yet, this humanitarian crisis is being ignored by the world.

We cannot sit back while our people suffer. This fundraiser is our way of taking action—to provide emergency aid to those in desperate need and to amplify the voices of those being silenced.
