Hello, my name is Eric Cheeks and I’d like to introduce you to my daughter Lauren. Lauren was born on May 6, 2019 at Union Hospital in Elkton, Maryland. When Lauren was born, she was immediately transported to Univ. of MD Hospital for surgery. She was born with a tumor that had six cysts in her stomach. After a successful surgery, during her recovery period, it was discovered she had a number of abnormalities associated with her heart. In Lauren’s short lifespan, she has been examined by a number of pediatric cardiologist who have made every effort to help us find a solution for Lauren’s ailments; Congenital Heart Failure, Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) and Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (WPW). This means Lauren has a hole in her heart, rapid heartbeat when normal electrical impulses of the heart are disrupted and an extra electrical pathway in the heart that causes rapid heartbeat in the lower and upper chambers. This has entailed numerous trips to hospitals in Baltimore Maryland, not to mention other medical needs and medications. Needless to say, this has taken a toll on Lauren’s mother and me, both physically and financially.
We are trying to get her approved to receive treatment for her rare condition by a medical expert at the renowned Texas Children’s Hospital, but due to new challenges with the insurance co., that trip is in jeopardy. Feedback received from the hospital is time Is of the essence, so our goal is to get her there immediately.
The purpose of this letter is to ask for your support that will be used to help with exorbitant medical expenses. We are most grateful for anything you can give. Lastly, we ask that you please share Lauren’s story with family, friends & neighbors for support.
