Ronnie's Road to Recovery
Donazione protetta
On Thursday, October 13, Ronnie Rankin was found unconscious. He had suffered cardiac arrest and was unresponsive until EMTs arrived. Thankfully, they were able to save his life but he sustained life altering brain damage.
In the initial days after his incident, Ronnie's outlook was unknown. His family was advised to prepare for the worst. Because he was unconscious for several days, neurologists cited a 90% chance at little to no recovery.
Relying heavily on their faith and their dad's stubborn, fighting spirit, Ronnie's children decided to transfer him to an inpatient rehab facility. Since his transfer on October 28, Ronnie has been making steady and remarkable progress, but there is still a very long road ahead. It is recommended that he be transferred to a brain injury rehab facility and he will eventually reside with one of his children as he will need a caregiver for the immediate future.
Below are just a few of the several expenses that Ronnie's family needs help to cover:
$3200 ambulance transfer from hospital to rehab facility that was deemed medically unnecessary by insurance.
20% copay for Ronnie's stay in the hospital and rehab facility.
COBRA premiums beginning Dec 1 (Ronnie's insurance will expire Nov 30).
$6000+ legal fees to gain guardianship.
Additional transfer fees and copays for brain injury rehab facility.
Home alterations for accessibility and safety.
Ronnie's family is so grateful for the prayers and the outpouring of love and support received so far! Please continue to pray!
